44′ C
The 44C is a mid-size cruising catamaran capable of ocean crossings.
The boat has various layouts and configurations, including twin cockpit or aft cockpit, galley upstairs or downstairs, and up to 4 doubles.
The twin cockpit is a favorite of mine, having had this layout on my own boat. All mast work is done while standing in the front cockpit. This is just so much safer and quicker than walking around the side decks.
The boat can be rigged so that all sheets can be controlled from this cockpit as well. At sea most watch-keeping can be done from inside the bridgedeck, with 360 degree views and full protection in cold or hot conditions. This makes night watches a whole new pleasure.
As of May 2007, there are ten 44′ Cs sailing or being built.
